 GUEST JUDGE /BEST AD OF THE WEEK   WORLDWIDE    June 22, 2015 16:04 (Edited: June 23, 2015 02:04)
Seeing that this is the only judging gig in Cannes this week that can be done by the side of the pool I feel somewhat privileged.

The fact that it doesn't come with 3 months of harassment and lobbying by every agency in South America is an added bonus.

Apologies beforehand for my selection, At this time of year I am always reminded that my taste is vastly different from the majority in this industry.

So here goes.

In TV I am going to have to go for King of the Mountain. Just because it most delivered on my need for entertainment. I would choose Southern Comfort and Studio Universal as the runners up because I really wanted both to be better.

In Print the winner is the Good Night Drink. Similar mechanic to the Aspirin ads of recent years in Art direction but still solid, VW is a nice continuation on this campaign.

In Outdoor, I am charmed by the idea of the Molty Foam Billbed. And the Defense Force Recruiting as a runner up.

And in Interactive I would shamelessly vote for my Grey colleagues in Brazil for Green Nation. simple and effective. HENDY (1).jpg
This week's guest judge is Mark Hendy, executive creative director at Grey Germany.

Mark graduated from Camberwell college of art in London in 1997 with no interest in a career in advertising until a childhood friend, former acid house music producer Neil Elliot got him drunk and talked him into becoming his partner.

During the subsequent 17 year hangover they have remained together as a team and worked on campaigns for brands including Ford, T-mobile, comedy central, comfort, Avis, Febreze, Duracell, Pilsner Urquell and Lenor.

Mark has been awarded at Cannes, D&AD, New York festivals, ADC and the Effies.

Since leaving Ogilvy London in 2007 mark has worked in Vienna, Milan and Dubai before touching down at Grey in Germany in 2010 where he is yet to receive any plaudits whatsoever for his grasp of the German language.
